Job Posting: Facilities Manager (Full-Time)

Position Overview:

The Centre In The Square is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong understanding and commitment to safety to oversee facility maintenance operations, our preventive maintenance program, our facility equipment & systems and facility related infrastructure improvement projects

Position Responsibilities:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Facilities Manager will be responsible for providing a full range of maintenance services to the Centre and to the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, ensuring environmental standards and safe workplace conditions are provided for occupants. This role is responsible for all aspects of facilities maintenance, records, supplies, and equipment.

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will:

  • Supervise the work of both building operations staff and outside contractors.
  • Oversee renovations and restorations, including both project design and project management.
  • Oversee property management contracts including lawn and garden care and snow removal operations.
  • Assist in establishing, monitoring, and evaluating operating and capital budgets, health and safety policies, and risk management practices for all related resources required in the day-to-day operations of facilities operations.
  • Oversee the asset management program in conjunction with the Facilities Management department of the City of Kitchener.
  • Interpret and ensure adherence to collective agreements. Provide input to negotiation of collective agreements.
  • Other duties as required

Education and Experience:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in related field or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of supervisory experience in a related field
Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
Experience in working in a performing arts centre or Municipal facility is an asset.
Joint Health and Safety Committee experience is an asset.
Working at Heights and Elevated Work Platform certification
First Aid and CPR certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:

Practical knowledge of employment, labour and health and safety legislation.
Knowledge of building systems including Building Automation, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire alarm, security, elevators, and entry systems & hardware.
Familiarity with the ASTM Uniformat II Classification for Building Elements
Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
Excellent administrative, communication, negotiating and decision making skills
Knowledge of MS Office and some knowledge of CAD programs
