Alumni From David Bowie’s Band Celebrate His Music With A New Tour!

As Westworld’s Evan Rachel Wood recently proclaimed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, after having been guest featured on a number of shows on tour with the alumni band, “It’s not a cover band. It’s the actual band. It’s as close as you’re going to get to Bowie.”
The David Bowie Celebration tour is, indeed, comprised of alumni musicians of Bowie’s actual band, and they will be performing here on Wednesday, February 27th, at 8PM.
Here’s the who’s who of the concert:
Mike Garson was David Bowie’s longest and most frequent band member. He was featured on more than 20 Bowie albums, including his much talked about masterly solo on the “Aladdin Sane” track. Mike performed with David on both his first and last concerts in the United States as well as 1,000 concerts around the globe in between.
Earl Slick began his collaboration with Bowie in 1974 on the Diamond Dogs tour and continued with Bowie through his David Live, Young Americans, and Station to Station albums, featuring the smash hit singles “Fame” and “Golden Years.” Slick rejoined David’s band in 2000 for the Reality album and tour as well as his The Next Day album.
Gerry Leonard was music director and guitar player for David Bowie on his Reality world tour and DVD along with Bowie’s previous two records, Heathen and Reality, and their subsequent tours, along with his The Next Day album.
Carmine Rojas toured the world with David Bowie, playing bass on several multi-platinum hits such as “Let’s Dance,” “China Girl,” “Modern Love,” and “Blue Jean” on the Serious Moonlight and Glass Spider tours.
Mark Plati co-produced David Bowie’s Earthling album in addition to working for three years as Musical Director and guitarist/bassist with Bowie, performing with him in Europe and the U.S. at such shows as the Glastonbury Festival, NetAid, the Montreux Jazz Festival, VH-1 Storytellers, and The Concert for New York. He supervised the live execution of two complete Bowie albums – Heathen, and the 1976 classic, Low.
They’re joined by the following musicians:
• Bernard Fowler, a singer and songwriter widely known around the world for his work with The Rolling Stones for more than 30 years.
• Corey Glover, a founding member of Living Colour, who has helped prove that not only could black guys kick out the jams, but that they could be embraced by a vast expanse of fans.
• Joe Sumner, a singer-songwriter and bassist for the rock band Fiction Plane. In 2017, he toured with Sting on the massively successful 57th and 9th world tour.
• Gaby Moreno, an Emmy nominee and winner of a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist. She has released four albums and toured with singers Tracy Chapman, Ani DiFranco, Punch Brothers, Hugh Laurie, and Calexico.
• Lee John, a multi-instrumentalist songwriter and producer based out of Los Angeles. In addition to writing and recording his own music, Lee is a member of the band SayReal and just so happens to be the son of Earl Slick.
