Multi-platinum celebrated Canadian artist Dean Brody is consistently recognized as an industry leading songwriter and performer and with the radio-release of “I’d Go To Jail” earlier this fall, the most recent single from his 2020 album Boys, fans continue to see why. With the release of this emotion fuelled track, the quietly stoic artist gives a disarming glimpse into his passion for storytelling. Capturing the unparalleled beauty of a father-daughter relationship, “I’d Go To Jail” also showcases the powerful pull Brody feels to protect not only his daughter but many other young women around the world through his philanthropic initiative, The Dean Brody Foundation.
Written by Brody, the deeply personal track manifested itself when he sat down to write. Anchored by his own journey of fatherhood, “I’d Go To Jail” has quickly become one of his personal favourites. “Sometimes a message just falls into your lap, and you become the vessel to deliver it. That’s how ‘I’d Go To Jail’ felt when I wrote it,” said Brody on how the song came together. “Something similar happened when I wrote ‘Time’ all those years ago. When I get goosebumps writing a song, I know it’s special and I’ve been lucky enough to have this happen twice now. Anyone who has someone in their life that they love this deeply can relate to doing anything to protect them and that’s really what this song is about. I hope it means as much to everyone that listens as it does to me.”
Coming off the biggest year of his career (2020) it’s clear that 2021 is showing no signs of slowing down for the 17x CCMA Award 2x JUNO Award-winning artist. Just last month, Brody landed four CCMA nominations for the upcoming 2021 Awards, including the coveted Entertainer of The Year nod as well as Fans’ Choice, Male Artist of the Year and Single of The Year. In addition, his “Boys” duet with country music’s fastest rising star Mickey Guyton, Brody’s history-making #1 this past spring, received GOLD-certification. Earlier this year he also saw his smash hit “Can’t Help Myself” with JUNO-nominated brother-sister duo The Reklaws receive PLATINUM-certification in Canada less than a year after its release. Brody’s “Canadian Summer” also garnered GOLD-certification and his 2012 anthem “Canadian Girls” went DOUBLE-PLATINUM. Brody holds five GOLD-certified (Beautiful Freakshow, Crop Circles, Gypsy Road, Trail In Life, Dirt) and one PLATINUM-certified albums (Dirt) in Canada along with six #1s at Canadian Radio. With over 12 years of making music behind him, 30+ Top 10 singles and 300+ Million Global Streams, Brody currently holds the spot for the second most-streamed Canadian artist in 2021, behind only Shania Twain.
Brody spent this past summer on the road playing shows and festivals across the country and headlined a sold-out show at Budweiser Stage this fall, making him the only Canadian country artist to hold a four-year residency at Toronto’s top outdoor venue.SEASON SPONSOR
