Ian Whitman, double bass
Beethoven: Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus
Tubin: Double Bass Concerto
Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, “Eroica”
Not long ago, Teddy Abrams was playing clarinet in the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra with Edwin Outwater as his conductor. Now at age 27, he has served as Assistant Conductor of the New World and Detroit Symphonies and is the newly appointed Music Director of The Louisville Orchestra. Teddy’s debut with the KWS features Beethoven’s masterful and heroic “Eroica” Symphony as well as the Signature Series debut of KWS Principal Bass Ian Whitman, playing a concerto by the Estonian composer Eduard Tubin. He’ll be playing the most famous bass in the world, lent to him specifically for this concert!
NEW! Due to an injury sustained in a recent cycling accident, Teddy Abrams is unfortunately unable to conduct this weekend. The KWS is grateful that conductor Carlos Izcaray is able to join them on short notice.
