On November 11 2018, Centre In The Square will host an event to honour the 100th Anniversary Of the Armistice of the First World War which will feature Lieutenant-General (ret) The Honorable Roméo A. Dallaire, performances from the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Grand Philharmonic Choir, and the Ceremonial Band Of The Waterloo Regional Police Service. This event will also feature exhibits from our partners in the Civic District - Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, and Kitchener Public Library.
This free community-event seeks to commemorate not only the 100th Anniversary Of the Armistice of the First World War, but, also to remember the more than 112,000 Canadians who have given their lives, the more than twice that who have suffered injuries fighting distant wars, and to those who have served in defending Canadian values.
Tickets will be distributed for this event on a first come - first serve basis beginning on Monday, November 5 at the Centre In The Square box office. On November 11, doors will open to our lobby to explore the local exhibits at 5:30PM with the evening getting underway at 7PM.
The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and Grand Philharmonic Choir will perform pieces to honour the men and women who have made sacrifices defending the values of our country.
Whether as a military commander, humanitarian, senator, or author, Roméo Dallaire has penetrated our national consciousness, often in supremely unconventional, and often intriguing ways. In addition, a multi-media presentation spearheaded by Centre In The Square General Manager, Rob Sonoda, will feature local veterans who retell stories from their days serving our country filmed at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
