Grammy Award-Winning R&B Jazz Legend Boz Scaggs Performs At Centre In The Square On September 28

Centre In The Square presents legendary singer songwriter Boz Scaggs on Sunday, September 28 at 8 PM.  Boz Scaggs The Memphis Tour features tracks from his new studio album Memphis, as well as favorites from the Grammy-Award winning artist’s career.

Boz Scagg’s explorations in blues and R&B, rock and jazz have produced lasting work and a career spanning 30 years that has brought with it acclaim, a loyal following, and an enduring respect among musicians. With Memphis (429 Records), his first studio album in five years, Scaggs looks back musically and biographically. His father and grandparents are from Memphis, as is his wife.

“I had been thinking about a record that involved going back into my past and finding songs that match my style and my voice,” Scaggs says. With producer Steve Jordan and a brilliant band he puts a distinctive touch on classics like “Rainy Night in Georgia,” “Corinna Corinna,” and “Mixed Up, Shook Up Girl,” as well as on a couple of originals.

William Royce “Boz” Scaggs began his career in 1965 with the release of his first solo recording Boz.  Scaggs quickly developed into an iconic singer songwriter playing with Steve Miller on several highly successful projects. In 1975, Scaggs achieved multi-platinum success with Silk Degrees featuring hits like “Lowdown”, “Lido Shuffle” and “What Can I Say”.  In recent years, in addition to touring extensively with his own band, Scaggs also performs alongside Donald Fagan and Michael McDonald in their band billed as The Dukes of September.

Tickets to Boz Scaggs go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 28 starting at 12 PM and range from $50 to $90 (plus applicable fees).
