Description

Juliet & Romeo is a wildly funny, sharply observed duet that blends dance, theatre, and comedy to reveal the real story after Shakespeare’s ending. Spoiler: they didn’t die. They grew up and stayed together. Happily ever after… well, they stayed alive, at least.

Now in their 40ish era, Juliet and Romeo are dealing with the things nobody writes sonnets about: mid-life wobble, the weight of expectation, and the strange experience of being mocked by their teenage selves. Long trapped as the poster couple for romantic love, they decide to confront their current struggles the only way they know how: by putting on a performance about themselves. Their therapist told them it was a terrible idea.

Directed by award-winning director and choreographer Ben Duke, Juliet & Romeo takes aim at our cultural obsession with youth and the complicated realities of long-term love, delivered with wit and striking physical storytelling.

“They dance and talk their way through a blissfully wry, subverted version of Romeo and Juliet.”
