Mennonite Mass Choir: Jenkins’ Mass for Peace Presented by the Mennonite Mass Choir

Main Theatre

Description

In a time when the world often feels uncertain and divided, the 150 voices of the Mennonite Mass Choir and Orchestra present a deeply moving program that reflects on humanity’s struggles and the enduring hope for peace.

The concert features two powerful choral works: Johannes Brahms’ Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny) and Karl Jenkins’ epic The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace. Together, these remarkable compositions explore the tension between human suffering and the search for serenity, weaving voices and orchestral colour into a profound musical journey.

Brahms’ Schicksalslied reflects on the fragile nature of human life, while Jenkins’ The Armed Man draws on diverse musical traditions to deliver a powerful call for peace in a world too often shaped by conflict.

Presented side by side, these works create an evening of reflection, beauty, and hope, reminding us that even in turbulent times, music can inspire compassion and the possibility of a more just and peaceful future.
