GOWAN

Born in Glasgow and raised in Canada, Lawrence Gowan built a successful solo career with multiple Platinum and Gold records before joining Styx in 1999 as a keyboardist and lead vocalist. A classically trained pianist, Gowan earned an ARCT from Toronto’s Royal Conservatory at age 19. He released six solo albums, including Strange Animal (1985), recorded at Ringo Starr’s home studio and certified triple Platinum in Canada. His hit “A Criminal Mind” won a Juno Award and remains a concert staple. Gowan’s work has featured collaborations with members of Yes, Rush, King Crimson, and Peter Gabriel’s band. He performed with the BBC Orchestra at Princess Diana’s memorial in 1998, and several of his songs have earned SOCAN Classic Awards. In 2011, he received a star on Scarborough’s Walk of Fame. With Styx, Gowan has recorded four albums, released live concert films, and performed over 1,600 shows worldwide.

Silver medalist and laureate of the Krystian Zimerman Prize at the 2015 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Charles Richard-Hamelin stands out as one of the most important musicians of his generation. In 2014, he also won the second prize at the Montreal International Musical Competition and the third prize at the Seoul International Music Competition in South Korea. “Charles Richard-Hamelin is a musician-pianist: fluent, multi-faceted and tonally seductive.” (BBC Music Magazine).
